Huntington Beach
California is the World’s Surf Capital that has 10 miles of wide open uninterrupted sandy beaches offering perfect weather for relaxation all year round. Earning its nickname of Surf City, Dean Torrance from the 1960’s pop group Jan and Dean, said Huntigton Beach embodies the infamous pop song’s spirit of freedom and California fun.
It’s without a doubt that California’s surf culture is perfectly embodied in Huntington Beach. Huntington Beach offers residents a charming community with a diversified economy overflowing with a variety of housing, boat marinas, numerous parks, and fantastic health care. If you have young children you would be pleased to know that Huntington Beach has 49 top rated public schools, an honorable mention is Jack L. Weaver Elementary that is the #24 best elementary schools in the entire state. The schools are great and the crime rate is low, it is a great place for a growing family. The Huntington Beach library is unlike any other. It has indoor fountains, a beautiful theater, lots of study space, and it even has its own cafe!
There’s a plethora of outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy all year round thanks to the wonderful southern California weather, never too hot or too cold, it’s always just right. That is probably why bestplaces.net gives Huntington Beach a comfort index of 9.7/10. Every Tuesday night, Surf City Night is held on the first three blocks of Main Street bordering Pacific Coast Highway and Orange Avenue. The event is community oriented and has a “block party” like feel with plenty of people walking their dogs, grabbing dinner, shopping at local booths, and more.
